Dear Wife
I again seit myself to write a fiew lines to you in answer to your letter of the 27th and the one you wrote the first of this month. They came through in six days. I am glad to hear that you are all well. I am tough as a bear and lazy as can be. It is a verry pleasent day here to day. We have had a little white frost for two or three knights. We got two months pay to day. I dident get a check. I got all money. I guess I wont put it in this letter. Sergt R Y Hazerd is sick and I guess will get a furlough. If he goes home I can send it by him and he can put it in the office at Binghamton. I hate to risk it in a letter from here. Hazerd says he will go and see you if he goes home. So if you want to send some socks he will bring them. I would like to see you but it costs to much to go from here and I cant get a furlough unless I get a sick one. I hope I wont be sick for if I should be I would be home if I could get a furlough. There was two men died out of our regt since we have ben here. There is quite a number complaining. I am glad you sent me them stamps. I was out. If I had to had plenty of stamps I would have writen Sunday. I bought a barel of potatoes yesterday. Paid three dollars and fifty five cents for them. So I shall live on potatoes for a fiew days. I dont know how much longer we will stay here but I am afraid not much. I guess it will be our luck to go up front again before long. General Geary has got another star to wear. I dont know wether he will command our divition now or not. I will answer Jacobs letter before long. He is quite a pensman. I havent got time to write eney more this time. The mail goes out at five and it is about that now. I will write again in a day or two. I have writen this is a great hury. I dont know wether you can read it or not. Write often as you can. I dont want to dun you to hard but it does me so much good to get letters. Tell Jacob and all the rest of the folks to write.
