Dear Charlotte
I received your letter yesterday dated the 12. It found me well and was glad to hear that you were all well. It is a verry pleasent day here to day. It has ben cold for three days but it is quite warm again to day. Knight before last we was ordered under arms at eight and last knight at halfe past twelve we stacked arms and held ourselves in readiness to go at a moments notice. I dont know what is up but the talk is that old Morgen is going to make a raid through here. If he intends to come I wish he would come. I hate to be getting up these cold knights. I guess it wont amount to much. Still we may have quite a skirmish. I heard he had ten thousent men. I have bought a picture of our camp. My tent is the end tent. I will make a little croos above my tent. You can see the hill back of our camp. We have to carry our wood off that hill to the right. You will see some negroes and their camp. That man that sits in the door must be skirmishing with his lice. I dont know what else you can see. One man washing that haint me. You can form some idea how it looks in our camp. I sent a letter by Sweet with 26 dollars in. I hope you will get it. I wish you would send me some tape as soone as posible. I cant wear my coat untill I get it and I have it fixed. I got a letter from Jacob the other day. He is well. Wish I could take a trip up in York state. Sergt Hazard haint going home. His furlough came back disapproved. Give Matie the picture and tell her I sent it to her. I wish I could see you and the children. I want to see John D the worst way. I dont think of much to write this time. I have writen this in a great hurry but guess you can read it. Write often and I will do the same. No more this time.
Good buy.
