June the 18
Dear Wife
I will write a fiew lines in answer to your letters of of May the 23 which I received to day and one of June the 7 which I received yesterday. We have fought another battle and yesterday we advanced and drove the rebs on the Cattasaaga Mountains where they have made another stand. We built breastworks last knight three hundred yards from the rebs. They have got a battery right in front of our regt and we have got one on a line with our works. The rebs cant hurt us much. Our battery has the advantage and can silance theirs. They are fireing now. I cant hardly write there is such a noise and the ground ferley(?) jars. There was 24 killed and wounded out of our regt in the last three days fight. Dear Charlotte I am verry luckey. The bullets come all around me. I hope I will be as luckey all through. I felt verry bad to day when I read about Paul being sick and father draging in oats. Paul must be better. You dident say eneything about it in your last letter. I hope he is well. It rains to day. It is a cold storm from the east. I never got a letter that done me more good than the one I got yesterday. I hadent had one in a good while. I am well and much hope you all are well. I hope this campaign will end soone. Long enough to draw some clothes and get pay. You must need some money and I want some clothes. We have a hard campaign and a long one. The army should lay still a while and rest but I suppose the rebs have got to be drove in Atlanta first. I havent time to write eney more this time. I have got to go and draw rations. Write as often as you can and I will do the same. I think we will have a hard fight here. Dont wory about me.
No more. My love to you.
