Dear Charlotte
I once more seit myself to write a fiew lines to you to let you know that I am well and hope these fiew lines will find you all well. I stated in my last letter that I had a hard cold. I am better of it now. I was verry much disappointed not getting a letter Sadurday. I think I will get it to day. I told you that I had applied for a furlough. I am verry sorry I sead eney thing about it. My furlough was filled out and sent to the Colnel and it is there yet. He wont send it to headquarters until some of the boys get back that have gone. I am afraid some of them never wil come back againe. Mr. Loyd starts for home to day. His son is dead. He died yesterday. Loyd is agoing to take the body of his son home with him. It will be hard news for his mother. She thought a great deal of her boy. I had to go on the dock last knight to work. It thunderd and lightend verry hard the fore part of the knight and it hailed and the wind blew. It was a hard knight to be out. It is cold to day.
Dear Charlotte it is now Monday afternoone and the mail has come but there was no letter for me yet. If you wrote one it hasent reached me. They think them men that have gone on furlough will come back to the regt in a day or two. I hope they will. Then my furlough will start but it will take severl days before I will get it. It has got to go to Slocolm and Geary and Greene. I think I will have one unles they stop granting them soone. I have heard from Billy this weak. There was a man in Co A that was left to Harpers Ferry sick. He came back to the regt the other day. He seas Billy is verry poore but is up and around. I hope he will soone be home. I have not heard from Rast verry lately. You sead Laben Brown wants to hire that lot. You can tell him if he is in a hurry to know that he can have it to pasture for what it is worth. We expected to be payed before this time but I heard the paymaster had ben stoped for a fiew days for some reason I dont know what. I dont know as I have eney thing more to write this time. Give my best respects to my folks and to your folks and ciss little Matie for me. I want to see you verry much and shal come and see you if posible. No more.
This is from your affecuante husbman.
