Dear Charlotte

I will try and write a fiew lines to inform you that I am well and that I received yours of Oct 21st. I was glad to hear from you and that you were all enjoying good health. I stated in my last letter that we expected to march. We are here yet but I think we will have to march soone. They have sent all the sick away to day and we had orders yesterday morning to draw clothing enough to last us sixty days. We all have to take an extra pair of shoes. I cant find out where we are going but I guess we will have a pretty hard march. It is raining here to day. It is a cold storm. It will be verry hard marching and cold to lay out knights but we have done it and I suppose we can again but it makes old men of boys to lay on the wet cold ground so much. But the soldier dont complain but goes in for fighting this thing out and reelecting Lincoln but it seams Seymour has commited fraud in forging soldiers ballots. I have heard a little about it and am verry anxious to know wether there is eneything in it or not. It seams they opend envelopes and took out the Union ballots and replacing them by Maclellan ballots. It dont seam posible that the scoundrels dare attempt eney such thing. If they have they attempted to trample upon the scared rights of American soldiers and violated the laws erected for the protection of the ballot box. It makes me mad and yet sad to think we have such bitter enemies north. I fear them more than I do the rebels in arms. We know how to take them but them mean crawling creping devils north we cant do eneything with at preasent but we can elect Lincoln. That will spite them some. I hope soone to hear more about Seymours fraud. If that is true he should be shot to death by musketry. You say the children grow verry fast. How I would like to see them and all the rest of you. I am glad you have some potatoes but I guess you earn them by diging them. I wish I could have dug them for you. I wrote a letter to Rachel the other day. I havent answered Evinas yet. I sent it to you. You never stated wether you got it or not. I have send my money. Let me know if you get it or not. I am verry anxious to know but I think it will be some time before you get the check. The paymaster left here yesterday so he will send the checks soone. Dont wory about me. I will write again soone. I havent but one stamp besides the one you sent it this letter I got to day. The postmaster wrote on the stamp that was on the letter hurrah for old Abe bully for him who ever he is. I must close. Good buy dear Charlotte.
