Dear Charlotte
I started a letter yesterday but I received one from you to day so I will write one this evening. I was verry glad to hear that you were all well. I am well sadisfied with the way you managed with the money. I am happy to informe you that I expresed $100 this afternoone. You must go to Adams Express Office and call for it and write to me as soone as you get it. You may have to take some person with you to identify that you are Charlotte Engle. I wish it could be me. You may wonder how I made this money. I will tell you. I worked hard for part of it. I bought oysters give one dollor per buchel. I opened them and soled them for a dollor per quart. I could earn from five to eight dollors per day and I speculated some. I made 80 dollors in one day. I made it all on one barrel of apples. I paid 25 dollors for it and I retailed them and I cleared 80 dollors. If we could stay here I would soone have another hundred but we expect to move soone. I think sometime this weak. I am verry sorry. I want to make enough to pay for our place. I want you to ceep the money and if you dont have enough to support you use it and if you do pay it on the place. When I get pay again you must use what you want if it takes it all. I have lent 50 dollors in the Co which I will get pay day if nothing hapens. I think I can make ten or fifteene tomorrow if we dont move. I think it is to bad that we have got to leave here after marching and fighting so hard and have troops come here that have never done eneything. I some think we will go on transport. I have got plenty of stamps. You neadent send me a box. I have better than you do. I have all the oysters and eney thing I want to eat. I had a splendid oyster supper. I put in plenty of butter and condensed milk. I have to pay 80 cents for butter and a dollor a can for milk. How I wish you could take supper with me once. I would have everything good. I am going to have another oyster stew in the morning. I havent time to write eney more this time. I am well. Write often. Kiss the children often for me. Good buy dear Charlotte.
