Dear Wife
Your letter of the 9th was received the morning. I was verry glad to ..you..again. You say you look for me in four months. You may look for me about the first of July. I think we will be discharged as soone as then. It may perhaps be the midel of July and we may get out as soone as the midel of June. I cant tell. The talk now is that we are going to march to Washington and there make out all the nessesary papers. It will take some time to make out all the co papers and settel up everything but we all think we will be home as soone as the first of July if we have good luck. Time never wore away so slow as it does now. I want to start so bad I cant sleep nor eat. I am about half crazy but I shal have to wait with patience and I havent got but a little of that eney more. I think they should discharge the 62 men first. We came without bounty and have had all the hardest fighting. To day I received the paper you sent. I send 18 dollars in a letter a fiew days ago. I am afraid you wont get it. I hope you will. You are out of money. You must borrow some if you can and get what you nead. I will pay when I come home. I feele verry well now but I have grown poor. I hope I will fat up again soone. It was luckey for me that the campaign ended here for I dont think I could marched. I was quite sick. I never run down as quick before. I can hardly wait two months yet I want to go home so bad. I want to see you and the little ham eaters the worst way but I shal consider myself luckey if I get home the first of July safe and sound. There is so meney poor cripples. When I think what I have ben through it dont seam hardly posible that a person could come out alive but the strife is over and I am all safe. The weather is coole. I am afraid there has ben a frost north and killed all the fruit. I hope there will be plenty of it this year for I want to make up lost time. You neadent send me eney more thread. I have got plenty. You will soone have the privilage to mend for me. You say you have ben to Mrs Hayes. I heard of it before I got your letter. I must close for this time. Write often. You wont have to write a great meney more letters. Good buy.
